Sad that there is a National Child Abuse Prevention Month….

No one can do everything, but everyone can do something.- unknown

The fact that we even need a month to try to prevent and stop child abuse shakes me to my very core! That is why we are hosting a fundraiser to support CASA, Court Appointed Special Advocates!  As parents, aunts, uncles, grandparents, friends, it is our responsibility to be the best advocates for our children, when due to circumstances, that is not possible, we must support a community that will do that for our children! We should not judge the reason these are children getting lost in our system, for they are often the result of societal problems as a result of divorce, job loss, teen pregnancy, etc. Whatever the reason these children are in desperate need of our help! It is our duty as human beings to support in these children in anyway, large or small!

I am sure we all believe in those beautiful lyrics “I believe the children are our future, teach them well and let them lead the way”. We are the teachers whether we want to be or not. It should be every child’s birthright to grow up with the basic needs of a roof over their heads, food, clothing, etc., and in a perfect world emotional security!  What will become of us as a global community if we do not heed this responsibility?

Since we cannot adopt or foster parent every child in need, even though I am sure we would if we could, what can we do? For starters, we can learn about and promote the agencies available to us that can do something about this horrific problem.

Please join us in raising awareness and money to support CASA, right here in Media, PA, by coming to Boutique Wearhouse on April 25th when a percentage of the sales from the entire day will be donated to this wonderful organization! If we as a community can enable one child to grow up feeling loved and safe, it is a start…maybe the child we support will find the cure for cancer, be the next Einstein, be the facilitator for world peace, who knows!

Can we afford not to !

XO,

Robin
